Dave Matthews Virginia Tech Concert Students John Mayer Nashecklerspray is taken aback.

It is with unprecedented levels of anger, outrage and serotonin that we convey this next story to you. Actually, we don't know what serotonin is - is it like testosterone or something? Because if it is then that's exactly what's coursing through our veins right now! Gallons and gallons of anger-producing serotonin is roaring through us like liquid water over the mighty Niagara Falls!

You want to know why we're raging? Because apparently the Dave Matthews Band and Virginia Tech are planning some fancy celebration to commemorate the four-month, 21-day anniversary of the horrible travesty that happened there. Seriously - you're supposed to celebrate birthdays, weddings and graduations - not horrible travesties. Are we gonna start giving gifts on the anniversary of the holocaust? Is Rob Zombie gonna serenade the Vietnam Veterans Memorial?

Not that he doesn't have the voice for that, because he does.

The Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Phil Vassar and Nas are gonna be playing a show to commemorate a massacre. Quite frankly Matthews, Mayer and Vassar, we are quite shocked. We're not as surprised by Nas' participation - he's a rapper you know.

We guess this whole thing just sits wrong with us because it's so unexpected. For instance, usually the Dave Matthews Band likes to celebrate various things by hosing boaters down with runny poop. Mayer should feel free to celebrate his newfound freedom from Jessica Simpson - but not at the expense of so many still in mourning. So what are these bands thinking? Dave Matthews' drummer Carter Beauford fills us in:

"We have a profound respect for the incredible resolve and unwavering sense of hope the university community has shown and are honored to have the opportunity to share this evening with Virginia Tech."

Virginia Tech's president had this to say:

"We're extremely grateful for the compassion and generosity of these artists who wished to create a very special event where our students, faculty and staff can come together to celebrate the spirit and resiliency of our university community as we begin a new academic year."

Not good enough boys! And that's why hecklerspray now proposes a total boycott of all participating artists by not purchasing any of their music on Limewire, Free Music Education Resources From The U.S. Army and Navy, or various other p2p free download portals.

That'll learn 'em some manners.

John Mayer? Ugh. I hope you don’t have to endure that no talent assclown out there in the U.K. Dave Matthews at least has one thing going for him, in that at his concerts even the security guards are smoking joints.

This is what has your knickers in a twist? With all the real evil out there from Dafur to Washngton D.C. and beyond why do you bother to hate a band? That’s clearly all this is. That and you know that if you type in to your post the words “Dave Matthews” you’ll get a bunch of hits. If you must spill hate try a more worthy target.

Some suggestions: George Bush, Dick Cheney, Rupert Murdoch, Clear Channel, Umar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, execs at Ford and GM, the insurance industry, any doctor who complains about malpractice insurance while parking his Benz at his country club, did I mention George Bush?

Yes the whole concert is ill-conceived. Yes, it will be an arena full of stoned people screaming “Dave I Love You!” But deliberaately misconstruing it s a celebration of the massacre isn’t funny, does not convey a sense of irony. It just looks shallow. Try to think of this event as a way for VA Tech students & faculty there to raise money for their therapy sessions by scalping tickets, then move on to something more important.

Want an unforgivable response to a tragic and preventable loss of life I suggest you take another look at NOLA. And then do something about it. Here’s a place to start. http://www.emergencycommunities.org/volunteer.htm

or make a differnce abroad at http://www.OxfamAmerica.org

Dafur? Don’t forget the power of narrowing your audience - lobby your elected officials.

F*ck soft rock mega stars, go live a life that matters.

You all are missing the point of this concert. It’s to celebrate the VirginiaTech community, how they have come together to help eachother through the horrific shootings. I go to VT where one of my friends was killed and another shoot in the arm. This concert will only help us, the VirginiaTech community, celebrate the lives of those who were lost, and strength and bravery our students have shown after the shootings happened. LITCHIK: youre way out of line by saying, “try to think of this event as a way for VA Tech studetns to raise money for their therapy sessions by scalping ticekts.” No one is trying to make a profit off this event, not even the university. And if you think someone is, then you obviosuly don’t know how we feel here, and probablly dont even care.

I’ve got to say it’s a fucking stupid idea.

Horrific events should be remembered but not fucking celebrated with a “rock concert”.

It’s wrong of me to say this, but I live in Hobart, Tasmania. Just near Port Arthur where 37 people lost their lives to some asshole with a gun.

We’ve had remembrences but not celebrations.
