Cut Copy = new wave / shoegazer hybrid with beats, baby
Then buzz it up

What sounds like a combination of The Human League, M83, The Magnetic Fields, Orange Juice and Kevin Shields, mixed by Daft Punk and with overdubs by Interpol and, erm, produced by the artistprobablyknownas Prince?
Cut Copy does, that’s what…
This record, ‘Bright Like Neon Love’, by Cut Copy sounds like all the above added to a blender and nuked until smooth.
It is either a sleeper classic or the first great new wave record of the year (it was released in 2004, apparently, but we think 2005 will be Cut Copy’s year so to hell with release dates…).
A re-released single, ‘Saturdays’, seems to be getting a little airplay on MTV2 so keep your ears and eyes open for that.
And in the meantime, you can get the album from Amazon or listen to it on Napster.
NAPSTER NOTE: Can you listen to music at work? If the answer is yes, you should try out Napster’s £9.99 per month subscription service (free 14 day trial). This allows you to create a library and playlists from Napster’s collection of over 1,000,000 songs. It is fabulous and the best jukebox we ever spent our money on… highly recommended for serious music fans.
