Courtney Love Flogs Off Kurt Cobain’s Old Crap
Courtney Love has always enjoyed more notoriety than success as a singer, and notoriety doesn't pay the bills – good job, then, that Courtney Love was married to that miserable singer who shot himself in the face, because that does pay the bills.
Courtney Love has decided to rid herself of all of Kurt Cobain's stuff at auction, donating a portion of proceeds to charity in the process. And feelings are mixed about the Kurt Cobain sale – on the one hand people are saying that Courtney Love is only putting the items up for auction to earn shedloads of cash and remind people that her new album is coming out soon. On the other hand, however, who can say no to a million overpriced flannel shirts and a bunch of journals about how sad it is to be a millionaire?
Courtney Love is doomed to a future of only being known as Kurt Cobain's widow, and she's eager to change that – maybe she saw how being John Lennon's professional widow only left Yoko Ono with a Turk pumping poison into her arm and it scared her – but the poor woman isn't having much luck with anything.
Since her first solo album sold roughly three copies worldwide in 2004, Courtney Love has tried variously to be an American Idol judge, the mother of Alan Partridge's baby and a movie star, but all have failed – the latter mainly because all her plastic surgery have made Courtney Love look like a confused Toby Jug made of wax that's been left out in the sun too long. But now that Mel Gibson has got Courtney Love clean and her court problems are over, Courtney can start to rebuild her life. And that begins with her bank balance.
Around a year ago, Kurt Cobain became the richest dead celebrity around after Courtney Love sold off a 25% share in his song catalogue, earning Courtney $50 million in the process. And now Courtney Love wants to add to that by staging a giant auction of most of Kurt Cobain's stuff. E! Online reports:
"I'm going to have a Christie's auction," Love told spinner.com. "[My house] is like a mausoleum. My daughter doesn't need to inherit a giant hefty bag full of flannel fucking shirts… A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to 'Teen Spirit' — that's what my daughter gets. And the rest we'll just fucking sell." Love said that her inability to move past the suicide of her iconic husband nearly 13 years ago was a major impetus in deciding to put the Cobain collection on the block. "I still wear his pajamas to bed," she said. "How am I ever going to go form another relationship in my lifetime wearing Kurt's pajamas?"
There's still a lot to be worked out before the Kurt Cobain auction commences – like what will be sold, when it'll be sold and what percentage of money will go to which charity – but Courtney Love has a point. Only by ridding herself of Kurt Cobain's possessions will she be able to leave her past behind and evolve as a person capable of forming meaningful relationships. Because, let's be clear, that didn't really happen when Courtney Love went online dating now, did it?

Linda Conner- upset with your reporting and use of language, perhaps she can do better to study proper writing herself. IE: referring to on-self is a capital (I) and not lower case (i). Evidence of lazyness who spell like that. By the way it’s not “victum” it’s ‘victim’. ‘Am not even going to bother with the rest of spellings, but ‘am sure she has a ‘kollege’ degree.
She had been wanting to sell it all the entire time. She doesn’t love Kurt. She manipulated him into killing himself and now is just the right time for her to sell his crap. Everyone thinks she’s doing it to promote her album or that she is broke.

And what about other people deserving to maybe “inherit” some of his belongings? Esp. Nirvana-related things such as props or posters or stage gear…. Shouldn’t Krist and Dave have a chance at that?
It always sickens me to see a parasite profiting from such misery…. But that seems to be the way of the world these days. No one will stand up for common decency.

Id like to say I dont like this site, everytime Ive come here it makes me question my faith in humanity, Ive never read an article that is positive. This site has no class of any kind as far as Im concerned.
I never really got into the whole Nirvana thing when I was in highschool, just recently Ive been listening to a lot of older stuff, Courtney Love should have the right to sell off her husbands old things if she wants, its her right. I cant believe how people dump on Courtney Love, shes a widow for cryin’ out loud, and this whole thing about her contributing to his death is BS. You want to know whos fault it is… its his fault, he shot himself, but wait not just that, its the media’s fault, ITS YOUR FAULT, ITS MY FAULT. Its our whole society that puts these human beings on pedestals, above the rest of us, making them stars, something that many of them dont want to be, or cant handle, like Kurt, also I hate how this whole ‘Pop Culture’ garbage has infiltrated itself into something as pure and beautiful as music, it sickens me. We need to stop the road we are going down and look at what we have become as human beings.

Kurt Cobain is rated in the Q Magazine 7th Best Singer of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, so somehow I think he might just be a frigging excellent singer. There is no one in the whole world who could ever sing his songs like he could. Elvis is rated best singer, but would he of been able to sing Smells Like Teen Spirit or Lithium with such a banshee scream. Nah I don’t think so. Not one of you could imagine what a terrible childhood and teenagehood Kurt had; his mum and dad divorced when he was at the age of 9, between 9 and 10 yrs of age he lived with 10 different families. At the age of 13 he started smoking marijiuana, and at the age of 16 he was already planning to commit suicide. He hated himself and suffered from severe depression and at one point was living under a bridge. Don’t you even dare insult him, because you don’t know what he went through. R.I.P Kurt Cobain.
