Cleveland Family Guy Spin-OffWhen Joanie loved Chachi it lasted exactly 17 episodes. When Frasier loved Niles it lasted even longer-ish.

When Skeletor remembered he had a mentor that had long ago been locked on another planet with He-Man's sister, it was like a steel-toed boot to the nethers. But that's just the risk of a spin off, now isn't it? You think you've got a great product, but then Hordak shows up and kicks you in the jellies.

Unless the spin-off of which you speak belongs to Cleveland Brown of Family Guy fame. He, apparently, is on the threshold of carrying his own show.

Family Guy, the show that occasionally battles the Simpsons, gets featured in video games and sometimes returns from the dead, is gonna be torn in two like an earth worm who's bottom half is getting it's own television spinoff.

Wikipedia is wise and knows all things, let us then consult it for further enlightenment on these matters:

"During a live broadcast of "Loveline," Seth MacFarlane announced that a spin-off featuring Cleveland was currently in the works with the studio and writers."

The Hollywood Reporter seems quite knowledgeable about the whole thing too:

"The project, tentatively titled "Cleveland," is being written by "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry — who voices Cleveland and serves as writer-producer on the series — and "The Simpsons" alum Rich Appel, executive producer/showrunner on MacFarlane's other animated comedy for Fox, "American Dad.""

Now if we had our pick as to spin-offs we'd like to see, Mike Seaver's gym coach would take a low-paying job in California, thus having to move his entire giant family out there for weekly antics-galore. Also we'd have a show called Joey.

He'd move to California too.

This cleveland show should be interesting. he is one of the dullest characters from the show…I still like him though

Meh…. as someone else said, one of the dullest characters in the show… getting his own spinoff? Excuse me if I’m not a little more excited…. ;)

  5. Yuck Says:

Why don’t the creators try something new for a change?

American Dad = Family Guy 2.0

  6. Stabby McGee Says:

American Dad is shit. Family Guy is still pretty fresh, but I get the feeling Seth McFarlane thinks he’s a lot cleverer than he actually is. Good with amusing voices and singing, less so with inventing new and interesting shows that aren’t Family Guy.

  7. Jeremy Says:

    @ Yuck:
How could they come up with something new? Their main character is a complete rip-off of Homer, and the entire show entails little more than flashbacks to pop cuture references. They haven’t written or thought of something “new” yet, why would they start now?

Why Cleveland rather than Quagmire?? I’d much rather watch a show called “Giggedey Giggddey”!!

i think this could be great. don’t bitch about the lack of quagmire because cleveland hangs out with him even more than peter does! the contrast should be great, and dare i say it might be aimed at minority audiences?!

Personally, I’d prefer it if Seth focus on Family Guy…he shouldn’t have even wasted his time on American Dad, never mind making a spin-off on top of that. You don’t have enough funny to go around Mr MacFarlane!!

  25. d legal Says:

The spinoff was probably part of Seths new 100 million dollar contract. I guess the execs wanted another hit show to cash in on if they were going to give him that type of cash. I love family guy and think seth is a pretty smart writer, but this is going to be a big flop in the end.

  26. Gobba Says:

Stabby McGee I agree with you …I love AMERICAN DAD …Roger is the ish!!!!!!
Cleveland getting his own show though ..I’m not excited about it at all …I cannot stand Cleveland slow ass voice …one liners I can handle but a whole dialogue of listening to him talk ..I don’t know about that ..but I will give it a chance…

  27. kenny Says:

I too would have rather seen a Quamire spin-off but i guess Cleveland is more expendable you really don’t miss him if you don’t see him. I just am weary of the type of jokes he will have on his show. You know the type of comedy MacFarlane does i just don’t want to see a show full of black stereotype jokes every week.

  28. Charlie Says:

i would have much prefered The Quagmire Show or the Stewie and Brian Show. Who Else But Quagmire? lol

  29. Cleveland Says:

this show should be good i cant wait for it but i think it will only last one season id like it to be a secsess though they wont make him as dull as on the show (transformers rule)

  30. Natasha Says:

I am black, and I don’t want to see Cleveland my own self, and Vince STFU…Everyone watches Family Guy no matter what race they are. Cleveland is nothing like the black men, I know, and most of them don’t even talk like that at all. I would have rather seen a show about Brian or Stewie, or Quagmire, hell even Meg or Joe bu Cleveland? Damn. I’ll wait and see before I truly judge but I bet it will be a one seasoner.

  31. aura bryt Says:

oh my gosh i love famialy guy and i will happily watch this show as well
