Christopher Nolan To Pull Out Of Batman 3?

The Dark Knight was such a raging success that nobody really knew how Christopher Nolan would ever top it - so it looks like he’s decided not to.

It’s common knowledge that Christopher Nolan hasn’t signed on to direct Batman 3 yet, but now we’re starting to hear whispers that he’s probably never going to make Batman 3, probably because he wants to make loads more weird little films about David Bowie inventing electricity or something.

This rumour that Batman 3 will be directed by someone other than Christopher Nolan is actually quite worrying - not only because his work on The Dark Knight took intelligent popcorn hits to a dramatic new level, but also because he apparently wanted Cher to play Catwoman, and who wouldn’t want to see a big-haired pensioner wriggling around in a skin-tight latex leotard, right? Right? Hello? Anyone?

Everyone knows The Dark Knight was good. It was so good that it made Christian Bale go mental on his mum. It was so good that it made Morgan Freeman crash his car with an illicit ladyfriend in the passenger seat. It was even so good that we’re prepared to overlook Batman’s silly voice and that nonsense about tracking people’s mobile phones in it.

It was, in short, so good that everyone is desperate for Batman 3. We’d even be able to put up with a Batman 3 that starred Cher and Johnny Depp so long as Christopher Nolan directed it. Make no mistake - Christopher Nolan is vital to Batman 3.

Which is why it’s a pain in the arse that he’s probably not going to direct it. During his big interview about Two-Face being dead recently, Aaron Eckhart also happened to let out this little nugget of information:

“He never said he’s going to make another one. I’m sure they drove the Brinks truck up to his house and dumped money on his lawn. But I think Chris wants to go out and make other movies, too. And he should. He’s an independent filmmaker at heart. He’s got a lot of ideas.”

The News Of The World, which never makes stuff like this up, expanded on the claim yesterday by suggesting that Christopher Nolan won’t make Batman 3 because he can’t do it without Heath Ledger. But that’s rubbish - he swapped Katie Holmes for Maggie Gyllenhaal between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and that formula worked pretty well, so all he needs to do is find a new Joker with a weirder-looking face and he’ll be away.

Of course, with The Dark Knight being the massive runaway success that it is, Batman 3 is an inevitability whether or not Christopher Nolan chooses to direct it. But if he doesn’t, we’d personally like to vouch for Tyler Perry. It sounds like a weird choice, but it’s the only way that our dream of seeing a tall, overweight transvestite Batman dishing out folksy self-help soundbites to criminals will be realised. Who’s with us?

He never said he was going to make another one after Batman Begins either and he wanted to make other films then too he said (which btw was the amazing The Presitge, a great flick). You people are reading to much into what Eckhart said. BTW the Cher as Catwoman BS is just that total BS. Enough of that stupid ass rumor

I just heard Cher is back on for Catwoman! Aces!!

Obviously this is one of the greatest films of all time. I would rather see Warner Bros put a hold on the movie for a couple years until, perhaps, Christopher Nolan and his brother could settle on a proper story for a third film. I agree that there should be another Batman film (afterall we do need to see Wayne Manor rebuilt) and in my opinion this is Nolans’ franchise and it should be treated like it. It was his vision that brought these 2 films to life and it should be his that continues on for a third. As for your rediculous remarks on The Prestige, David Bowie did a wonderful job as Nikola Tesla (Please make a movie about him Nolan!!) and perhaps if you knew who Tesla was you’d appreciate his part in the film a bit more. 2 words: Google It.

The Dark Knight was such a great success that it would be foolish to even make a third film. Of course, the studios will finish the trilogy no matter what… with or without Nolan. With Nolan, it’ll probably be a great continuation to the franchise, but I’m skeptical whether it can actually match up with The Dark Knight. Without Nolan… forget about it. It’ll be worse than Bryan Singer leaving the X-Men franchise. So please… just leave Nolan and Batman to rest.

Batman the dark knight, was an incredible movie, there’s no doubt of that… Nolan probably shoud make another movie about batman, but without the joker, out of respect to Heath Ledger, and also because, lets face it, noone could top his acting, he’s always going to be the best joker ever…
I think they should totally make a 3rd movie, but they should put new characters… And leave the joker alone…
4 the people that haven’t seen this movie yet, I recomend it. It’s great…. So, watch it!!!

    1. give Nolan a little slack and time to breathe,Cause I doubt the studio is, trying to get another a big money maker, the dang movie doesn’t get pulled from theaters until the 25th of this month.
2.Let him breathe, enjoy a little bit of the cash and ponder what he is going to next because you all should know everyone is banging down his door,to direct and write a movie he is a hot pick don’t ya think
3.Cher is not meant for Catwomen, Maybe Angelina Jolie
    4. by no means should the Joker be a major character in the 3rd movie except maybe an out of focus cameo or something,I wouldn’t take the risk of another actor killing the character. For those who compared Katie’s Upgraded to Maggie,to another actor easily replacing Heath as the Joker are you crazy??? It would be disrespectful to Heath and the fans, and Katie couldn’t do the dark knight which was awesome she was flat in it and Maggie was an upgrade but you can upgrade Heath who was an actor with passion for his roles.Odds are you would get someone who has some huge shoes to fill and try to mock Heaths performance.I am sure that stuff goes through Nolan’s Mind.
    5. I think Johnny Depp would make a good riddler, However Jim Carrey was a really good Riddler best part of that crap Batman Movie
6.I would like to see the scarecrow in some more lime light in the 3rd one, I don’t think his story did the character to much Justice in the first one
7.Does anyone remember before the release of the dark knight that Christian Bale told reporters that is was always Planned as a trilogy and is excited to see where Nolan takes the story in a few years because of the way he chose to end it.
    8. Aaron Eckhart Is a great Actor and you should know he will not be in a 3rd Batman,I am sure he is still friends with Nolan and keep in touch but do you really think he Knows what Nolan is thinking. No We are doing what Actors want us to do. Get in to the buzz that they help spin so that they can keep their name circling around. Think about it, We did that with the chick Clinton was messing with.

He will be back and do it, You all Know that he ain’t gonna do that to the fans or his creation. Just gonna take a break from it but 2-3 years boom but doubt it will have a boom bang like the dark knight did. He has to be careful because when you try to top something you often make worse. He just has to stick to his thoughts and what what works other wise you will get a Spiderman 3. It could have been a good movie I liked where they were going but they over did it and tried way to hard. Then they killed Harry? We waited for the story to play out and they didn’t give it enough attention nor Venom
