Christmas Number One Betting Odds - One Week Left
Then buzz it up
December 19th, 2005 at 10:30 by Stuart Heritage

It’s the start of the last week before the most important day of the year - the day that the UK 2005 Christmas Number One is revealed. And, um, Christmas day and stuff.
Over the last few weeks, we took a long hard look at the 43 possible contenders for this year’s Christmas Number One slot. But not all of them were real contenders - some of the acts weren’t releasing Christmas Number one efforts, some had released their singles too early to feasibly get the Christmas Number One, and others were so totally crap that nobody in their right mind would even buy their single, let alone make them Christmas Number One.
That’s why this week - as Christmas day (and the all-important announcement of the Christmas Number One) quickly approaches - we’ll be looking squarely at the betting odds of the front-runners only. So here are today’s Christmas Number One Betting Odds, with help from SportingOdds.com…
Shayne Ward - That’s My Goal. We saw the X Factor final, and we saw
how shamelessly That’s My Goal was promoted - Here’s Andy singing
That’s My Goal! Here’s Shayne singing That’s My Goal! Here’s what the
CD artwork will look like! Here’s Shayne singing That’s My Goal again!
- which means, even though the CD isn’t even released until Wednesday,
chances are it’ll get the Christmas Number One spot this year. Current
Christmas Number One odds - 1/8
Nizlopi - The JCB Song. Just to show how mental British people get
around Christmas, people are actually talking about Nizlopi - singing a
song about a mockney toddler in a digger, for Christ’s sake - as a
potential Christmas Number One. We’d write something funny about it,
but we’re crying so many disappointed tears at the moment that we can’t
even see our computer. Current Christmas Number One odds - 3/1
Westlife and Diana Ross - When You Tell Me That You Love Me. We’ve
heard the Westlife and Diana Ross single, and we can only imagine that
- if it manages to become the Christmas Number One - future generations
will assume that the British public in 2005 became temporarily deaf and
stupid after a strong solar flare. Or something. Chances are that
Westlife won’t make it, anyway. Current Christmas Number One odds - 16/1
Anyone Else - Yeah, as if we’re down with the kids. Lethal Bizzle
might bring out Merry Christmas Muthafucking Jive Turkey and get the
Christmas Number One with it, for all that we know. So, on the
off-chance that Shayne Ward, Nizlopi or Westlife don’t make it to be
Christmas Number One, we’ve given you a handy ‘Anyone Else’ option for
you to bet on. Current Christmas number One odds - 5/1
Tomorrow we’ll update these handy Christmas Number One odds for you
and your betting enjoyment. In the meantime, meander over to
SportingOdds.com to see it’s entire 43 song-strong Christmas Number One
betting odds list. And bet! It’s what the baby Jesus would have wanted.
