Time for another look at the betting odds of a bunch more jingley-jangley poop that’s in the running to be the 2005 Christmas Number One.

Christmas Number One Fact Of The Day: The first ever Christmas number one was a piece of sheet music – in 1945, nobody bothered to count the singles sales. And what were your grandparents rocking around the piano to on Christmas day 1945? Nothing other than cheery ode to casual sex I’m In Love With Two Sweethearts by Issy Bonn.

Today, we’re looking at Christmas Number One contenders by Nizlopi, Sugababes, Will Young, Bloc Party & Kaiser Chiefs and Delta Goodrem, and we’ve got the Christmas Number One betting odds right here, with help from SportingOdds.com

Nizlopi – Nizlopi is the trendy choice to be Christmas Number One
this year – Terrahawks-faced barefoot DJ Jo Whiley seems to be playing
The JCB Song every day on her godforsaken show. What can we tell you?
It’s a gimmicky, novelty acoustic hiphop track with a scribbley video.
Will it be the Christmas Number One? There’s a possibility. Current
Christmas Number One Odds – 15/8

Sugababes – The Sugababes Christmas Number One effort is entitled
Ugly, a sort of rip-off of Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful. And when we
say ’sort of’ we mean ‘exact’. The Sugababes have a habit of getting to
number one with their singles, but Ugly has already been released. So
there’s a chance that Sugababes will get to number one, but it’ll be a
non-Christmas Number One. Current Christmas Number One Odds – 28/1

Kaiser Chiefs & Bloc Party – Back in the summer, indie
favourites Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs said that they would team up to
record an indie-schmindy version of All I Want For Christmas Is You.
But we haven’t heard anything since then. Usually, this kind of thing -
if it even gets released – gets whacked out on limited edition
tinsel-coloured vinyl. And they never get to number one, let alone
Christmas Number One. Still, we know exactly what it sound like: "All I
want for Christmas is yooooouuu-OOOOHHHHHHH!"
Just like every other
pissing Kaiser Chiefs song. Current Christmas Number One Odds – 50/1

Will Young – We have absolutely no qualms about saying that Will
Young has zero chance of getting the Christmas Number One this year.
Why? His new single All Time Love isn’t even out until February, which is weird, as
it couldn’t be more Christmassy if it stank of brussel sprouts. And his
last single has dropped in and out of the charts already. Not a hope.
Current Christmas Number One Odds – 50/1

Delta Goodrem – Again, we’re not sure why
inexplicably-popular-in-Australia personality vacuum Delta Goodrem is
even on the Christmas Number One betting odds list – the ‘news’ section
of her UK website is completely bare: no ‘Buy Delta’s new Christmas
single’, no ‘Delta Goodrem cares about her fans’, not even a ‘God,
isn’t Delta Goodrem the dullest human being on Earth.’ Current
Christmas Number One Odds – 80/1

You lucky people: we’ll be looking at the betting odds of different
Christmas Number One singles every day between now and Christmas.
That’s plenty of time for you to check out the amazingly comprehensive
Christmas Number One betting market over at the Specials section of
SportingOdds.com. And get betting – it’s the only way to stop you
becoming completely sick of the bloody songs.

Delta Goodrem is a talented singer with some 5 million sales in the last couple of years and is a beautiful girl who has been voted into the last 2 FHM top 100 women in the UK, and has dated several high profile celebs. She seems personable enough to me on her media appearences.

You on the other hand I expect are an A list celeb, nicknamed Mr Charisma and do this for a bet.

“It’s a gimmicky, novelty acoustic hiphop track”

if by novelty you mean “what a novelty it is to finally have something original and worth listening to in the charts!” then yes i agree. amazing how when you take something out of context the meaning gets lost…!

Apparently Jonathan king is boasting about the JCB song on his website, does he have any involvement in this little ditty? Just like he is making a pile out of Madonnas latest current hit as he owns the sampled ABBA backing track, now how many of you knew that, for the full story of King and others check out my blog and feel free to sign the petition.

  • Ben says:
