Christina Applegate and her husband Johnathon Schaech have decided that they want to join in with the most infectious fad of 2005 – the celebrity break-up.

Christina Applegate and Johnathon Schaech have announced that they are to divorce after four long years of marriage. No real reason has been given, though we’d expect that Christina Applegate probably got sick of the weird way that her husband spells his name.

Everyone has wanted a slice of the break-up pie this year. There was
the Renee Zellweger/Kenny Chesney break-up, the Paris Hilton/Paris
Latsis break-up, the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey break-up, the Jude
Law/Sienna Miller break-up, a possible Britney Spears/Kevin Federline
break-up and the, um, Destiny’s Child break-up.

And now, chasing the
pack and shouting "Ooh ooh! Me too!" is Christina Applegate (DVDs), star of
2am ITV sitcom Married… With Children and weekday lunchtime Channel
Four sitcom Jesse.

Christina Applegate’s husband Johnathon Schaech reportedly filed for
divorce this week at the – always busy – Los Angeles Superior Court.
Why? Irreconcilable differences, apparently. Not irreconcilable enough
for Christina and Johnathon to put out a lovey-dovey joint statement,
mind you:

"After four years or marriage, actors
Johnathon Schaech and Christina Applegate have filed for divorce. The
decision is mutual. We have no further comment at this time."
