Charlize Theron The New Bond Girl?

Now that we all know that Daniel Craig is going to be the new Timothy Dalton James Bond, it’s time to look for a new Bond Girl, and it looks like Charlize Theron is the favourite to take the job.

All manner of actresses have seen their names attached to the vacant Bong Girl role in Casino Royale - some were wishful thinking on the studio’s part, and others were punted about by lame-o actresses desperate for work themselves. But the director of Casino Royale has his own ideas - if it was up to him, he’d give the role to Charlize Theron.

According to reports today, Charlize Theron (DVDs) is to become the Bond
Girl in Casino Royale. We’d like it to be true, but knowing what a
cock-up the Bond people made of the ‘Clive Owen! No! Pierce Brosnan! No! Daniel Craig!’ announcement of who was to play the new James Bond, we’re learning to take all James Bond rumours with a pinch of salt.

First of all, Angelina Jolie was slated to be the Casino Royale Bond Girl.
But, for some reason, she’s suddenly out of the picture. Maybe the Bond
producers didn’t want to pay her a giant fee, maybe she’s fed up of
starring in stupid action films, or maybe she’s too busy trying to
adopt enough children to start a small army.

Also rumoured to take the new Bond Girl gig was Sienna Miller - an evil
choice seeing that part of Sienna’s tumultuous year included an apparent affair with Daniel Craig. But now that Martin Campbell has been installed as the director of Casino Royale, he’s gunning for Charlize Theron.

Theron, who won an Oscar by getting all fat for Monster and is
currently starring in box office under-performer Aeon Flux, would be
perfect for the role according to one James Bond insider:

"She is glamorous but she is also a brilliant actress. It would be quite a coup to have an Oscar-winner as the female lead."

Yeah, because it really worked wonders for Halle Berry’s career, didn’t it?
