Jersey Devil Cryptozoology Paranormal CreatureAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

This week: Cryptozoology/Odd Sightings

Cryptozoology has a stuffed-full menu of weird creatures that have had dozens of sightings all over the world. The Jersey Devil has got to be one of the best known, but it seems it's sightings don't happen quite as much as others in its great big monster family. Once though, almost a hundred years ago, a whole bunch of firemen hosed one right off a roof.

Then it attacked a dog and got shot at by police. Quite an experience from all we've read.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: Gigantic Particle Accelerator May Cause Time Travel Side-Effect In May 2008

This week: Scientific Wonders

In June of this year you're gonna get fed up with your Nana's dependence on pain killers, blood thinners and skin tighteners. You're gonna take it upon yourself to flush the whole bunch of 'em down the privy, and she'll die precisely two hours later for lack of her medicinal necessities. That's murder, friend.

Don't worry though, because you won't have to live with offing your Dad's Mom forever, you know, in prison and what-not. That's because according to some legitimate Russian brains, a time portal will briefly open in May of 2008 in which visitors from the future can step through.

Government willing, you could use the chance to set things straight now, couldn't you?

Awesome Or Off-Putting: Contemporary Father Forces Family To Live In Make-Shift Prison Camp

Anatoly Titsky Family Russia Prison CampAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

This week: The Unexplainable

The problem with eighties architecture was that all the doors to buildings were far too formal. They were all very symmetrical, breeze-proof, and most had the overrated ability to open and close. That's way inside the box, man.

Imagine then, our surprise when the renovations we made to our family's west living-room wall with what was certainly an abandoned idling garbage truck went under-appreciated. We were in our room for millenia we tell you, and although we don't believe our father used guard dogs as an internment tool, there was a good chance the family poodle would have gone for the throat had we so much as cracked the door.

Still, that's nothing compared to Anatoly Titsky. He kept his wife and kids locked up in an isolated and haphazard prison camp modelled after Auschwitz for two years.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: Steve Cooper, Reincarnated Indian Baby-Making Goddess

This week: Religion

If hecklerspray had a time machine we'd totally travel back and warn the Aztecs about Cortes. Then, once properly adored, we'd move all our crap into the God-room atop their vine-covered temple and allow them to worship us the way all non-Aztecs apparently deserved.

But unfortunately time machines are at least a decade out, and by the time they get here we're sure gaining the respect of long-dead native American peoples will no longer concern us. It'd be cool though, wouldn't it?

Just ask Steve Cooper, he's a British guy who now gets worshipped as a Goddess in India.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: Britain’s Invisible Tanks

Invisible Tank Sir John PendryAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

This week: Scientific Wonders

If Wonder Woman was smart, she'd use her invisible-jet technology to make an airline. Tremendous success would be unavoidable - everybody would have a window seat, and the guess work involved in the aeroplane bathroom would be more entertaining than the in-flight movie. And extremely public.

Unfortunately though, on the island of Mepos from where we're pretty sure Wonder Woman is originally from, they just don't share technology. But it looks like we don't need them to. The Ministry of Defence has recently announced they can make tanks invisible.

And since that engine noise is pretty unnoticeable it's really looking like their enemies are effed.

This week: Ghosts/Myths

The Battle of Gettysburg was just what it sounds like - a military battle that took place in Gettysburg, PA. Surely you're familiar with it - Abraham Lincoln, Slavery, the Gettysburg Address… you know what we're talking about, right? Well in that battle probably millions of bullets flew.

Despite the massive quantities of metal whizzing all around, only one civilian died in the mess - Jennie Wade. She was making bread for some union troops when she was struck down. The house where she died is considered 'officially haunted,' by some groups allowed to dish out titles like that.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: Mexican Roswell

Coyame Crash Mexico UFO Paranormal PlaneAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

This week: Aliens/UFOs

In 1947 many would tell you a UFO crashed in Roswell, New Mexico and ignited ET-mania across the globe. It was a major case in which hundreds of pieces of evidence - be they physical or otherwise - have been held up in an attempt to prove to the world that the crash really happened, and the government most definitely doesn't want you to know.

Well the United States isn't the only place where something like this happened. In Mexico, for instance, a civilian airplane is said to have collided with a UFO, sending both machines plummeting to the ground. A difference in this case though, is that according to a History Channel special on the event - all the Mexican military who were involved in retrieving and transporting the object died en-route.

What’s This Bloody Massive Thing In Greenland?

We're not all like you - we don't all use Google Earth to try and find topless women sunbathing in their garden. Some people use it to find massive spooky weirdness in arctic wildernesses.

Watch this video - it's of something that's shown up in Greenland on Google Earth. Apparently there's a perfectly straight, brightly-glowing object that's 50 miles long slap-bang in the middle of Greenland. What could it be? A mysterious government-controlled alien laboratory? A crashed UFO? A trick of the light? That 50-mile glowing dildo that your mum lost the other week? We just don't know.

One thing's for sure, though - the people need to be told! Or the people need to be ignored because they'll probably forget all about by the time they go to bed. One way or the other.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: Dr Roger Leir, The Alien Implant Taker-Outer

This week: Aliens/The Unexplainable

Every year there are thousands of people around the globe who claim to be abducted, and to have had alien technology embedded under their skin. Go to a surgeon with a story like that and you'll probably be laughed out of the office - unless of course, you happen to be in the waiting room of Dr Roger Leir. He claims to have removed about a dozen of these implants from people's bodies.

Not only that, but he also claims some of these things emit radio signals - and some of them have even moved themselves to avoid being taken out. Coast to Coast host George Noory was an eyewitness to that last bit.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: The Fish/Goat/Man Monster of Lake Worth

Lake Worth Monster Texas Bigfoot Paranormal SightingAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

This week: Cryptozoology/Odd Sightings

Encounters with a paranormal creature usually have one witness. Some kid is out in the wild hiking alone, then wham-o, the bitter stench of Bigfoot fills his nostrils in a face to face meet and greet. The better sightings will have two or more unwitting participants who eventually issue similar statements. The real good kind of paranormal encounter includes a sighting, a local radio broadcast of the sighting, droves of onlookers racing to the scene via automobiles and police running for their lives.

And so it is with the Lake Worth Monster.

Awesome Or Off-Putting: If Apollo 11 Failed…

Apollo 11 Failed Richard Nixon SpeechAwesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.

This week: Strange Facts

In 1969 the American space program was fledgling. Regardless of their inexperience, the pimple-faced NASA felt obligated to take a solid crack at sticking boots on the moon. This they did, as we now know today. Neil Armstrong said something about jumping, and Buzz Aldrin was probably pissed Armstrong beat him down the ladder.

What's a little less known is that the American up and ups weren't entirely sure they could get their boys back to Earth. In fact, things were so uncertain Richard Nixon even had a speech drafted up in case of horrific failure. Hecklerspray has it for you.

Yes we do.
