Carly Rae Jepsen Looking Good

Rising from relative obscurity (no one watches Canadian Idol, do they?), 26-year old Carly Rae Jepsen hit the big time with the smashing success of her stays-in-your-head-until-you-want-to-fucking-die pop single, Call Me Maybe. Still riding high on that song’s hit status, Jepsen recently released her second full-length album, Kiss.

Jepsen herself is not bad-looking, but nothing special. She’s often criticized for dressing too young, but give her a break … she’s trying to compete with much younger, much better-looking artists. Because her looks are pretty run-of-the-mill, she looks better when she’s more casual and not pretending to be Debbie Gibson. Simpler is better for her, and Carly Rae Jepsen without makeup looks pretty good.

In the first photo, Jepsen, sans fards, is arriving at JFK Airport in August of this year. Carly herself has a dippy expression on her face but actually looks really cute. (Based on the pained grimace on the woman in glasses behind her though, the singer may have just dropped a daisy, if you know what I mean.) Jepsen’s complexion is fresh and lovely, and she looks much younger without the heavy eye makeup. Overall, despite the fact that it’s August in New York City, so it’s not nearly cold enough for that stupid cap, she looks great.

The next picture was snapped a few years ago in Vancouver, before Jepsen hit the big time. She appears to be wearing a tiny hint of mascara, but nothing compared to the heavily-lined eyes she favors these days. She looks cute and happy, and a bit like a prettier Chelsea Clinton. She would probably get a lot more calls if she kept her look simple like it is in this photo.
