Steady yourselves, we've got a hell of a news story for you here – Bryce Dallas Howard from The Village and Lady In The Water has announced that she's pregnant… with her husband's baby!

We know, we know – we had to read that over and over again just to try and comprehend the enormity of the situation. Bryce Dallas Howard, a young married woman, is pregnant. We can hardly imagine such a thing happening, so incredible is this story. Bryce Dallas Howard? Pregnant? Goodness!

OK, so we're only semi-sure that we know who Bryce Dallas Howard is, and the clamour to find out about her pregnancy was so minuscule that people only realised when she turned up to a premiere with her massive belly sticking out, but you get the idea.

Oh, you know who Bryce Dallas Howard is – she played the weird blind girl in The Village, and the weird mermaidy girl in Lady In The Water and she'll be playing Spider-Man's girlfriend in Spider-Man 3? Still no idea? She's the daughter of Richie Cunningham out of Happy Days. OK, now you know. Anyway, Bryce Dallas Howard is pregnant.

Such is the level of Bryce Dallas Howard's staggering lack of fame dedication to her craft over superficial Hollywood pursuits, nobody even seemed to know that she was pregnant until she turned up at the British premiere of M. Night Shyamalan's latest self-important confuseathon Lady In The Water with a gigantic baby bump. Turns out that Bryce Dallas Howard is actually four months pregnant with a baby she's having with her husband Seth Gabel. And, when she was asked why she hadn't bothered announcing her pregnancy to anyone, Bryce Dallas Howard responded:

“I can’t talk about the pregnancy too much. I’m a little superstitious.”

And that's it. No word about whether or not Bryce Dallas Howard will eat the placenta of her baby, no talk of her getting knocked up by her skating partner in a pointless reality TV show or some bloke who clamps cars – just a bald admission of fact. Ron Howard must be overjoyed, though. Not because he's going to become a grandfather but because this will hopefully stop people talking about what a mess The Da Vinci Code was.
