January 31st, 2006 at 14:42 by Stuart Heritage

You know all the endless speculative lists of contenders to get nominations for the Oscars? Yeah, they were right - Brokeback Mountain is so far ahead of the pack that we might as well all go home.
Brokeback Mountain has got eight Oscar nominations, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Scene Of Brown Love (Not Seeing It Go In Category).
With the unenviable task of going up against Brokeback Mountain in
this year’s Oscar nominations are Joaquin Phoenix (Best Actor) for his ‘look,
I’m playing a dead singer! You love this kind of thing’ role in Walk
The Line, William Hurt and Paul Giamatti for their equally mindblowing
supporting roles in A History Of Violence and Cinderella Man
respectively, and Wallace And Gromit In The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit for Best Animated Feature. We know that Brokeback Mountain wasn’t nominated
