Brittany Murphy – everyone's second-favourite female star of Sin City and the dirty-looking girl who had it away with Eminem about halfway through Eight Mile – isn't engaged to her boyfriend any more.
Brittany Murphy got engaged to Joe Macaluso on New Year's Eve after she saw him doing important things with electricity on the set of her movie Little Black Book last year. But now that Brittany Murphy and Joe Macaluso are no longer engaged, at least Little Black Book can officially be labelled as not enhancing the life of a single person on the entire pissing planet.
It's rare for a movie star to do anything to anyone who isn't another movie star that doesn't involve spitting or dismissively sneering, but Brittany Murphy is a rare exception. After all, Brittany has a fondness for making movies with traditionally non-actors like Eminem and Ashton Kutcher, so it's only fair that she should extend her close relationship with civilians to actually getting engaged to one of them.
At the start of the year, Brittany Murphy got engaged to Joe Macaluso – who was in charge of lighting and electricity on the set of her pointless movie Little Black Book – and all seemed as if it was going swimmingly with the pair, even if it did take Joe 17 dates to pluck up the courage to even kiss Brittany. But news comes today that will shock the handful of people who enjoyed Just Married enough to choose to take an interest in Brittany Murphy's personal life – Brittany Murphy isn't engaged to Joe Macaluso any more. One of Brittany Murphy's slaves says that Brittany and Joe:
"have amicably ended their engagement. They remain close friends and wish each other much happiness."
Usually, this kind of statement is code for "Woo-hoo! You just wait a couple of days to find out what crazy shit made these two losers split up," but there's a chance that we'll never find out why Brittany Murphy and Joe Macaluso aren't engaged any more, mostly because nobody really cares about Brittany Murphy that much. A hint came during the weekend's Teen Choice awards when – after Kevin Federline deafened everyone with his dreadful rapping – someone noticed that Brittany Murphy wasn't wearing her engagement ring and made her all defensive by asking about her marriage. All Brittany could muster in response was:
"Everything is going wonderful, thank you. I'm just living every moment, you know, enjoying my day."
Perhaps more clues to the reason why Brittany Murphy and Joe Macaluso broke up their engagement will be revealed in Brittany's new Tinker Bell film, where the cartoon fairy falls in love with a man and then splits up with him after she realises that he's only in charge of plugging things in and she's a proper famous filmstar and everything. Or, you know, something.
