Chances are that when Britney Spears started taking her knickers off, shaving her head and rushing away to rehab so that she could angrily declare herself to be an evil biblical creation in front of terrified drug addicts, you probably blamed her manager.
And even if you didn't blame Britney Spears' manager for her meltdown – instead guessing that it was down to, say, the empty feeling that comes when you realise that you're not going to have another hit record ever again and nobody thinks you're very pretty any more – it doesn't matter, because Britney Spears does blame her manager Larry Rudolph for her meltdown. Britney Spears blames her manager so much that she's probably just sacked him, and he's probably hitting back with a lawsuit. Probably.
The meltdown of Britney Spears was a long time coming, but the signs were always there. In the past Britney Spears had gone to a Hindu temple in tears and gone on television in tears and almost killed her baby by driving like a dickhead, but the Britney Spears crazyometer really started to gear up after she split up with Kevin Federline – that's when she started waving her vagina around and falling over and blasting puke-jets at boys.
And it wasn't really too much of a leap from that for Britney Spears to start shaving her head off, violently attacking cars with a brolly and ending up in rehab trying to commit suicide with the number 666 painted onto her bald head. Through this mess, it seemed as if manager Larry Rudolph was Britney Spears' only friend, trying to laugh off each disturbing incident with ever-more bizarre explanations. But now Britney Spears is apparently claiming that all this palaver was Larry Rudolph's fault anyway. So she's sacked him. Possibly. Page Six reports:
Spears, who's been suffering from severe postpartum depression, blames Rudolph for recent missteps, including introducing her to her nemesis, Paris Hilton. There may be legal ramifications as she signed a multi-year deal with Rudolph. But, since she just rehired her one-time p.r. woman, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, we're sure it will all be spun nicely in the press.
It's also being claimed that Britney Spears is resentful that Larry Rudolph pushed her into going to rehab instead of just leaving her alone to roam the streets and forage for food in trashcans like many Britney Spears in the wild do. And she has a point – it was going to rehab that irreparably damaged Britney Spears' career, not the fact that she's a badly-dressed weeping mess of a twice-divorced single mother of two who officially couldn't be any less sexy than she already is like you probably think.
But at least Britney Spears reappointing Leslie Sloane Zelnik as head PR slave will mean that we'll never be short of stories about Britney hurting herself while stripping or Britney suddenly becoming very dehydrated ever again.
