After the few weeks that Britney Spears has had, what with offending America’s Christians and endangering the life of her baby, she’d want to kick back and enjoy some comforting solitude.

Come on, this is Britney Spears we’re talking about! And Britney Spears has just followed the golden rule of being Britney Spears – saying something really dumb when she should really try being quiet. That’s right – Britney has compared herself to Princess Diana.

After the outrage double-header of mocking Jesus until the Christians
got angry
and then driving with baby Sean Preston on her lap, Britney
Spears (CDs) is hurt, angry and confused. But most of all, Britney is scared
of being murdered by the paparazzi. Not figuratively murdered, actually
murdered to death
. Just like Princess Diana. Poor Britney told People
magazine that she can’t even walk around with her baby:

"I don’t really go out with him and it’s kind of sad because I can’t
walk down the street with the stroller. Princess Diana got killed by one of these people. I’m not expecting people to pity me. I’m just telling the truth."

However, dying like Princess Diana does have its plus points. For one, everyone would instantly forget all of Britney’s bad points and she’d be hailed as some kind of hero, plus she could totally get Elton John to rewrite Crocodile Rock for the funeral.

Elsewhere in the interview, Britney Spears decided to embellish on her "it is what it is," semi-apology for driving in such a foolhardy way, saying:

"I love my baby more than anything and, as
unfortunate an experience as this has been for me and my family, if it
brings more attention to child safety then I fully support that."

That’s nice. A Britney Spears article that doesn’t end with her trying to blame everyone else for stuff that she messed up by herself.

"I don’t take myself so seriously but when you’re poked at and poked at, there’s going to come a time when you snap."

Whoops, spoke too soon.
