Brandy – the Grammy-winning R&B artist, star of Moesha and judge on that show where the man kicked a flaming bowling ball with steak knives sticking out of it at his own face with a live scorpion down his pants – might be going to jail soon.
Brandy's woes began when her car shunted into another on a Los Angeles freeway last month, sparking off a chain reaction that ended in a woman's death. But now that Brandy's crash has been uncovered, the California Highway Patrol has recommended that Brandy be charged with vehicular manslaughter for kick-starting the fatal accident. We would have reported on Brandy's crash earlier, but for the life of us we couldn't think of any funny jokes about multivehicular car crashes that kill people.
It's easy to forget how dangerous cars can be. As well as the more superficial dangers that cars present – like when you're drinking tequila at the wheel slagging off all the Fucking Jews or loading up on pot and painkillers and speeding into oncoming traffic on a motorway – cars can actually kill people. Statistics say that around four people every hour are killed in car accidents, and last year one of those was indirectly started by R&B singer Brandy.
Reports from the time say that on December 30 Brandy failed to slow her Land Rover in the slow lane of the 405 Freeway in LA, and back-ended a Toyota, which hit another car that caused it to get skewed sideways, bounce off the central divider and come to a stop in another lane, at which point another car struck it, causing the driver injuries that ultimately proved fatal. The accident went unreported until last week when TMZ uncovered it. Although Brandy was found to not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, she offered the following statement:
Brandy was involved in a car accident December 30, 2006 in Los Angeles where there was a fatality. She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased. Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time.
But now it seems as if Highway officers are pushing for Brandy to be hit with a vehicular manslaughter charge, as E! Online reports:
The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said Monday that the California Highway Patrol, which investigated the Dec. 30 fatal accident, has recommended a vehicular manslaughter charge be brought against the Grammy-winning former star of Moesha. The charge under review is a misdemeanor, the city attorney's office said. It carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. But a guilty conviction also could result in anything from house arrest to a work-furlough program, according to Mary Frances Prevost, a criminal-defense attorney based in California.
It's too early to know when Brandy's manslaughter case will go to court – or even if it will go that far – but one thing's for sure; the days where judging a little girl burping Take Me Out To The Ball Game was the worst Brandy had to deal with are over.

Brandy's Accident says
Lucky for most of the world’s population they have driven driven on a LA freeway.
There are usually 4 lanes or more in each direction. The extreme right hand lane is for leaving or getting on the freeway. The second lane is for slower traffic, trucks, and those of faint heart who feel safe at 40 MPH. The third lane, travels at a 50 MPH and is used for passing traffic in the second lane. Lanes four, five, six and up are for those drivers who have a death wish in progress or looking for their Darwin Award and traffic flows at 60+ MPH (AKA Autobahn speed).
All should keep in mind: traffic flows in LA with car to car spacing of often “one car length ” or less. Even in the slowest lanes. Because of the close spacing it is very difficult to tell when traffic very slightly slows (or see around the truck in front of you)… even if you are celebrity.. and pile ups are very common.
In my judgment: accidents can and do happen without any fault of any driver involved.
If I were on her jury, I would toss the case out the window on the grounds she is being prosecuted because she is a celebrity. Maybe, she -justly- needs a ticket for driving to close as the result of a bad roll of the freeway dice.

2 many rich and famous people get away with crimes that others would fry in the electric chair for! i think that brandy and halle berry as well as any other celeberty should be punished to the max for whatever crime they have commited! if they let them go with murder by just paying the fine and or paying sumone off, then why not just let all these drug dealers pay a fine or pay sumone off n not go to jail? or much more, why not just let everyone who can afford the fines pay them n not face the other option which is jail time! is this really how the justice system work? is this the system that we want our children to follow?
