The story of New Orleans is a modern-day tragedy, but one with a happy ending – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have moved to New Orleans, because – hey – nothing cheers up the inhabitants of a disaster-ravaged city like two grinning millionaire filmstars.
According to reports, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie confirmed reports of their New Orleans move at Monday's Golden Globes ceremony, and the couple are already looking for schools where they can send their children. Of course, it's obvious that at least some of the thinking behind Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's New Orleans move is down to Brad and Angelina's constant and committed charity work in the area, although we also expect that it might also have something to do with the low low flood-damaged Louisiana house prices at the moment.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are notorious for never staying in the same place for long. Angelina Jolie used to live in England until she felt Graham Norton's rage so strongly that she had to move away. Then Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie moved to Paris for a short time until the smell got a bit too cabbagey for Brad. Following that there was the infamous Namibia stay followed by a jaunt to India to run children over and call the locals "bloody Indians." And now Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are going to New Orleans.
Ever since Hurricane Katrina all-but destroyed New Orleans in 2005, celebrities have been doing their best to help the area however they can. Kanye West had a fight with 50 Cent about it, naked old Sharon Stone wrote a truly witless song about it and Michael Jackson thought about writing a song about it and then changed his mind. One of the only celebrities to make a tangible difference to New Orleans, though, is Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt helped organise a competition to rebuild New Orleans with affordable, sustainable houses. Construction starts on 20 of those houses this month, which could have informed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's decision to move there now, as CNN reports:
Globe-trotting Hollywood couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have moved to New Orleans and plan to send their three children to school there, Us Weekly magazine reported Tuesday. "We love it there," Jolie was quoted as saying in confirming the move at the Golden Globe awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Monday night. "The kids are going to go to school there. We're really looking forward to it."… According to Us Weekly, the movie star pair moved to the Big Easy on Jan. 11 and have purchased a $3.5 million, six-bedroom mansion in the city's French Quarter — the fourth house owned by the couple.
Experience has taught us what will happen from hereon in; Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will spend time aggressively defending themselves from the paparazzi in their new home before donating some money to local hospitals and then suddenly vanish from New Orleans with no warning, leaving the locals with nothing to do but cook as much meat as possible.
Well, either that or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will swoop into New Orleans, adopt as many children as their giant child-catching net will carry and swoop out again under the cover of night. We just don't know.

Despite the vaguely sarcastic wording, you’re right to call Brad one of the best charitable celebrities. At least he did something more than write a lousy song to help New Orleans. If only he’d make a decent film once in a while…

brad and angie definitely put money$ where their mouths are, that is in new orleans! brad/angie can’t save the entire new orleans, but at least they can make a little difference. BUT, little helps if other stars will be joining them to help new orleans. i applaud angie/brad for their humanitarian work!
both are charitable people. new orleans have them to thank for and appreciate! thank you brad and angie!!!
