You can’t compare Beyonce and Jay-Z to many people, but after their recent show in Ohio, the Von Trapp family might be an option.?
They aren’t being chased by Nazis or anything, it’s just that rather than all that unpleasant shouting, screaming and kicking people in ?elevators, they prefer to work out their problems through the medium of song. Well, when people are paying more to watch you sing than they are on their first car, you need to give those people a show.
The “On The Run” tour bought America’s answer to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Ohio on Saturday night, and do you know what else it bought?
DRAMA.
Maybe. Decked out in a long wedding dress and veil, as you do, Beyonce was doing her thing and belting out “Resentment”, a song about a woman’s significant other Monica Lewinsky-ing where he shouldn’t be, and decided to take a few liberties with the lyrics.
She changed the line “Been ridin’ with you for six years” to twelve years – aka how long she’s been with Jay. Towards the end of the song she also took “Like I couldn’t do it for you like your mistress could” and swapped out mistress for “whack bitch”.?
The BeyHive picked up on this straight away and put two and two together vis-?-vis the white hot fury of Solange Knowles and have come up with the conclusion that Jay-Z is possibly the stupidest motherfucker on the planet.
What woman is hot enough to make it worth cheating on Beyonce? He’s already punching above his weight with Queen Bey, if this otherworldly being does exist, the chances are that Jay-Z would not be able to pull her.
While this isn’t the first time that cheating rumours have swirled around these two (there are at least two songs per Beyonce album that mention being cheated on), ?it’s time to strap on our cynical hats and consider the alternative.
This isn’t the first time she’s changed the words to this exact song, and “sources close to the couple” are saying that it’s all a huge ploy to drive up ticket sales and to keep Jay-Z whipped. Which is exactly what they’d want us to think if he in fact was putting it where it doesn’t belong, so the mystery continues.
In any case, we’ll have to wait until “On The Run” wraps up to see if anything comes to this – music industry power couple getting divorced half way through a world tour together is the stuff of straight-to-DVD romcoms.
