Barbra Streisand concert drink throw george bush political audience Barbra Streisand is famous for two main things; being appealing to stereotypical homosexuals and always banging on about politics like she thinks she's bloody Theodor W Adorno or something. And having a big nose. OK, three main things.

And, as part of her latest tour, Barbra Streisand has devised a cunning ruse to combine these elements to a delightfully devilish degree - halfway through belting out one awful MOR ballad after another, Barbra Streisand hauls a George W Bush impersonator onstage and takes the piss out of him a bit. But one Barbra Streisand audience member in Florida on Monday actually became so enraged by the sight of seeing a millionaire singer trading lop-sided water-thin pre-scripted insults with a man who looks a bit like the president that - fuelled by nothing but righteous anger - they threw a paper cup full of some kind of liquid at Barbra Streisand. And missed. And it was the most exciting thing that any of them had ever seen.

When Barbra Streisand steps out onstage, audiences should know what they're getting - they're getting a lengthy string of deathly boring songs sung in a needlessly melodramatic way by an old woman who hasn't been culturally relevant for 30 years and doesn't need the money anyway. That's the true spirit of a Barbra Streisand concert, and some people just have to fight to protect it.

For instance, when a cheeky scamster decided to buy 1,000 Barbra Streisand concert tickets with a stolen credit card, authorities came down hard on the sonofabitch who was trying to prevent the army of mild-mannered, possibly slightly too rich for their own good Barbra Streisand fans from turning up and watching their hero go through the motions of a setlist that even a five-year-old could guess. They were doing it to save the good name of Barbra Streisand. But now it seems like Barbra Streisand doesn't want to play ball - she's getting political on their arses. BBC News describes a skit that Barbra Streisand acts out midway though her concerts:

President Bush is made to look foolish by saying things like "I'm concerned about the national debt, so I'm selling Canada". The impersonator also asks whether he can sing a song with Streisand, who replies, "How about 'Enough Is Enough'?"

Hardly spinning around on a giant sodding crucifix, is it? But on Monday in Florida, this almost unbearably weak sketch was interrupted by a member of the audience so incensed by it that they threw a cup of drink quite close to where Barbra Streisand was standing. It's reported that Barbra Streisand shrugged off the incident by saying:

"It's a free country. They're allowed to express their opinion."

Ooh, Barbra Streisand is rubber and the drink-throwing fan is glue. This whole Barbra Streisand drink-throwing thing has got our head in such a spin we're hardly able to think, though. Who's worse here? Is it Barbra Streisand for self-indulgently wanking around with half-baked political sloganeering when all people want her to do is sing The Way We Were and fuck off? Or is it the person who hears that Barbra Streisand is mocking George W Bush and - of all the things they could do - chooses to spend anything up to $2490 on a concert ticket just so they can half-heartedly throw a cup of water quite close to her as a protest? Or is it us for writing about it?

It's us again, isn't it? Bugger.

So, let me guess… You don’t like Barbara, right?

It is interesting that rather than holding a criminal responsible for his actions, you claim that he was being scapegoated all to protect Barbara?

You sure live in your own world…

(and no, I am not a Barbara fan…)
