This week: The Unexplainable/Myths
Generally Mexicans are a people associated with delicious burritos, a strong work ethic except during mid-day nap time, and being very athletic and evasive. Today though, today we take a paranormal look at what's going on there south of the border. Yes, today we have a news clip showing actual footage of a strange flying entity in Mexico. It's a strangely shaped witch filmed from a distance, and not easily written off.

On January 16, 2004 a young Mexican police officer named Leonardo Samaniego was attacked by a witch. It sounds crazy, but from watching the taped interview Samaniego gave immediately following the occurrence, and seeing how he was literally trembling with fear and adrenaline, well, it gives the whole thing a touch of credibility.
Samaniego was on routine patrol in his cruiser when it happened. It was so late the streets were pretty much empty, an easy night for a cop by the sound of things. Then he saw a black figure drop from a tree and hover off the ground. The figure flew onto his car and frantically scratched at the windshield trying to get at him. He explains it best himself in this lengthy quote:
"It was a woman… all dressed in black that fell from the tree but she didn't touch the ground, just remained floating several feet from the ground. I saw her very well and then she landed softly on the ground and stood there looking at me. She was trying to cover her face from the lights of the car, I think they were bothering her. I could see two big black eyes on her, completely black without eyelids, and her skin was dark brown. She was all dressed in black with cloak and cape like a witch and she seemed very upset by the lights.
"As soon as I realized it was a kind of woman being, or a witch, very strange standing there trying to cover her face, she threw herself against my car very fast, falling on the car and hitting the windshield. She was flying very fast and it took only a second to hit the windshield glass. I was so shocked by this action that I put the car in reverse and pushed the accelerator trying to get away while requesting backup assistance by radio.
"It was a woman with big black eyes, everything was black, no eyelids. Her skin was dark brown and her expression was horrible. She was furiously trying to get me with her claws while I was running away in reverse calling desperately for backup assistance to any units around. When I finally hit the end of the street, I was so shocked that I covered my eyes and then I fainted."
Shortly after that the backup Samaniego had requested showed up. It was two patrol cars and an ambulance, but they saw no signs of a witch. Samaniego regained consciousness after a few minutes, and walked away from the incident uninjured.
Now as to the figure seen flying on the accompanying video, hecklerspray has some thoughts on the matter. One is it doesn't look like anything readily identifiable, but does that mean witch? One good thing about the video is it has two police officers testifying as eyewitnesses to the actual witch (Samaniego is the second officer interviewed – look at how he's got the shakes). Clearly these two saw something, and as far as eyewitnesses go police officers are pretty highly regarded.
As for the flying witch herself, she's very rigid and unmoving on her broom – or whatever it is she's flying on. There's no cape flapping in the wind, there's no stretching her neck or moving her head around. And as she flies across the sky it's in a perfectly straight line at a seemingly constant rate of speed. This would seem to imply something on a wire maybe, or a witch that prefers to go the exact speed limit. But then again you have the two officers' testimonies – they are very believable.
So is there a Mexican witch? Your guess is as good as ours.
