Awesome or Off-Putting is a weekly delve into cryptozoology, ufology, aliens, medical marvels, scientific wonders, secret societies, government conspiracies, cults, ghosts, EVPs, myths, ancient artifacts, religion, strange facts, odd sightings or just the plain unexplainable.
Any time a new Bigfoot video rockets across the world’s desktops, it gets proven fake within a few days. Any time somebody claims conclusive ghost footage – we’re all generally left wondering if it’s just a rain smudge blurring the lens of an ATM security camera.
And UFO videos – well it used to be they all looked terrible and ridiculous. It’s usually a few seconds of something flying past the sky-pointed camera – and then nothing. Today’s video is nothing like that – one version of it goes on for 15 minutes and 54 seconds, and it is mind-blowingly astounding.
One thing we’ve always found interesting is how UFO pictures and reports have changed throughout the years to match whatever the decade’s particular view of the future was. You’ve got the original disc shape, the classic cigar, and most recently there’s been an abundance of lights flying in formation.
We’ve reported on these multiple times – and with video too. There was the sighting taped by a Mexican Airforce heat sensing camera, there was the time a whole bunch of pub people filmed lights in the sky on their cell phones over Shakespeare’s hometown, and there’s the case of Diana Blackburn & Jeannie Anderson.
Well we haven’t reported on that one yet – lucky for you we will today. This is almost 16 minutes of video shot by the two ladies as they drove down Highway 5 near Bakersfield, CA. Some of the video is Blackburn saying she can’t find it on camera, and some of it is her and her friend completely in shock as they film the thing, but we couldn’t really make out anything on screen.
But huge chunks of the footage, mind you, is of quickly flashing lights blinking around what appears to be a slowly flying triangle. It’s dark out, so without the flashing lights it’d be totally invisible, which seems pretty strange for anyone with advanced technology to over look. And the lights change shape too – as if the whole ship might be.
The video consists of footage from their car as they drive down the road. They audibly decide to stop the car on three occasions, if memory serves correct, to film the ship from outside their car. The result is crazy. It’s footage that makes you inch a little closer to the screen as your jaw drops a bit. It’s also footage that makes you stop wondering what it’d be like to see a UFO.
It’s also footage jam-packed with more F-bombs than you’ve probably heard all month. There have been online commentators we’ve seen who have suggested that the high repetition of the simply-formed girls’ sentences implies they are trying too hard to sell the thing. It sounds to us more like they are in complete shock.
There was an interview conducted with the two women. Off-hand we’re not sure who conducted it, but we believe it was a UFO investigator of sorts. You can see that right here.
Then there’s the debunkers – they’ve got a valid point. It seems Blackburn has a skydiving company. One theory is that all the lights are her friends falling in formation a few different times. Interesting.

Look up in the sky it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superman, it’s Blair Witch.
I see shakey footage and hysterical commentary.
I hate to say it, but Where’s the beef?
Since they have night vision they must have a dedicated video camera (not cell phone).
To bad they could not stay put in one spot fixed on their car or truck.
To bad they didn’t call anyone on a cell phone to get corraborating footage from second position.
To bad there wasn’t any thing other than black sky (or trucks) to give perspective distance, size, speed.

The first video proof of a UFO made entirely of Dark Matter.

what a pair of fucking morons. why don’t they just fucking shut up and try to film better. ‘OH MY GOD IT’S A FUCKING UFO!’ ‘OH MY GOD!’ a million times a minute is excruciating. tits.

One of the single worst vids I have seen. Virtually worthless.

It’s not fake, but it’s not that extraordinary either IMHO. Instead of one large craft I’m pretty certain it’s several small “orbs” or “spheres” flying together and changing position relative of each other. Extraterrestrial? Who can say? I doubt it though.
Their speech is actually good evidence pointing toward the fact that this probably isn’t a hoax.

@MoSceal
– To bad people actually care to record UFO incidents at all :D come on, even if it’s fake… you can’t have people thinking in a literally once in a lifetime moment that they should be doing anything else OTHER than keeping their eyes on the UFO and NEVER blinking?!
A lot of people, especially online, want a lot of things… but in reality, even you wouldn’t be able to think clearly. Let alone remember to record it!
It happens completely at random, and you’re pumped with adrenaline and fear… all you can think about is how long this extremely rare literally once-in-a-lifetime moment will last… so all you do is keep your eyes or camera focused on the object and hope you record it well enough.
Seriously… you can’t be that critical of UFO footage… like with paleoanthropology and the pygmy remains… you get what you get, you take what you can get… you can’t just say “there’s not enough fossils of pygmy’s, therefore it’s automatically fake” because fossils(excuse the expression) don’t grow on trees!
Whether this video is fake or not is beyond the point, often many of the real ones are said to be fake… simply because reality is more strange and less perfect than people want to believe… mythbusters shows that to be quite true, quite often… a good example would be two bullets fusing together in mid-air.
Instead of whining about WHY it MIGHT be fake, take the time to study it carefully to find HOW it is fake. Just stating the why without the how in a UFO vid… is no better than believing in santa claus(or creationism for that matter) just because everyone else says it’s real.
This is why I became a psychologist :D well… that and losing my best friend to creationism… nothing worse than losing a friend because he believes in talking snakes and severs your friendship because you won’t >.< well… it could have also been the fact that I refused his proposal to save me from going to hell, and deciding he didn’t want to be “influenced” by the evils of science…

I don’t see anything but some blinking lights and people shouting. I don’t doubt they have seen something because of the tone of their voice, but we will never know anything of what it is because the footage is so bad.

MoSceal,
For knowing so much you sure don’t know the difference between to and too…I’m just saying.

How could anybody believe in such a bad performance. Girls trying to be convincing, but they’re trying too hard and it looks like they’re in some C-movie.
Millions of passionates with proper science knowledge are begging everyday for even a slight chance of seeing an UFO and what they get – two obviously stupid girls shouting some nonsense on the highway. Oh boy…
Pedro says
This video = Proof that we are becoming dumber as a species.
This video shows blinking lights, nothing more. There’s not enough information to make an informed decision here of what it is.
Why has no one else reported this if it was so easily seen and obvious over a busy highway?

If your a skydiver and you don’t want to get hit by airplanes flying at night what do you do? You stray some lights to you and jump. Average skydiving jump coinicides with videos length? Also the coughing?…sounds like some stoned chics going for a cruise…nice try though.
