Avril Lavigne Goes And Gets Married To Deryck Whibley

Avril Lavigne married Deryck WhibleyShe was a pop muppet marketed as a punk, he was a singer in a band that opportunistically tried to cash in on Blink 182's popularity, can we make it any more ob-vi-urrrrrrrrrs? Avril Lavigne has got married to Deryck Whibley.

You'll all know who Avril Lavigne is, of course – she's the tiny wee singer who did that Sk8ter Boi song and is solely responsible for all the little girls who walked around in skinny ties for about a month four years ago. And Deryck Whibley is the singer in pretend punk band Sum 41. Come on, you remember Sum 41 – they did that song, that famous song… no, come to think of it, we don't really who Deryck Whibley is either. But look, Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley got married at the weekend, OK?

Young love is a beautiful thing to witness. And even more beautiful than young love is young love between a skinny drunk girl with a guitar who – yikes – writes songs for Kelly Clarkson and a shouty man who looks a bit like that bloke from How I Met Your Mother would if he had facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy. That's right – Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley got married on Saturday.

It's not really a surprise that Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley have got married – they were engaged, after all – but here, for all you weirdos who like reading wedding details, are the wedding details, courtesy of People magazine:

At the outdoor, non-denominational ceremony, Lavigne was walked down the aisle by her father, John, to Mendelssohn's "Wedding March." She wore a Vera Wang gown and carried a bouquet of white roses. The couple said their vows under an awning decorated with white flowers in front of 110 guests, including family and friends from their native Ontario. Once the groom had kissed the bride, guests tossed rose petals at the newlyweds as they walked back up the aisle.

After the wedding, guests were to be treated to an outdoor cocktail hour before the reception, including a sit-down dinner, under a tent on the estate. In contrast to the all-white ceremony, the reception will have a red theme, with centerpieces of red roses and other flowers. The couple's first dance is expected to be to the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris." 

Now that she's married, Avril Lavigne has said that she'll calm her infamously angsty ways a little. She's preparing her third album at the moment, and she's said that:

"there's going to be some love songs on there. That's what I feel, so that's what I'm going to end up writing."

Meanwhile, it's expected that Deryck Whibley will write a number of love songs dedicated to Avril Lavigne on the new Sum 41 album, which you'll probably be able to pick up in the HMV bargain bin for 12p before Christmas.
