Well, it’s a sad, sad day for people who love adorable, funny celebrity couples as the disgustingly cute and enjoyable Anna Faris and Chris Pratt have announced that they are separating after 8 years of marriage.
The internet went into a mental breakdown after the news of the couple’s split hit, and I’m pretty sure my friend Lori is never going to recover from this, so big shout out to Chris and Anna for not taking her into consideration whatsoever #rude.
The couple released a joint statement saying:
“We tried really hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”
On the one hand, I feel like the only person on the planet who wasn’t shocked by this. I mean, I don’t like it because I loved them together, but I wasn’t shocked. When these two got together back in 2007, Anna Faris was getting leads in movies like “The House Bunny” which was surprisingly funny, she’d starred in the “Scary Movie: franchise (which I also find surprisingly funny) and while she wasn’t an A-list star by any means, she was a solid B-list, which she’s really been able to maintain for the past decade. She’s basically been a B-list celebrity and babe for like 15 years now: like everyone knows who she is, everyone thinks she’s cute, no, she isn’t Scarlett Johannson, but she’s still a definite catch. Whereas back in 2007 Chris Pratt wasn’t really known at all, and he when he started to get known it was usually as a comic relief character with a dad bod. It wasn’t until 2014 that his career exploding into the supreme A-list and he traded in his moobs for pecs and was suddenly a sexy Hollywood leading man.
During this time, Anna got herself a steady job on the show “Mom” which has kept her settled in LA with their son for the past few years while Chris travels the globe being a mega star. Back in 2015 some sleazy tabloids ran a story about Chris cheating on Anna which she, in a radio interview, addressed. Anna said while she didn’t believe the rumours, it still made her feel really insecure because now he was this huge sex symbol who was gone all the time while she was just home in LA with their kid. That was two years ago and Chris’ career has only gotten bigger since then so I assume that shift really changed their marriage.
On the other hand, I really do feel like these two will have a solid post-marriage relationship so here’s hoping they at least stay adorable friends.
