Angelina Jolie: Kids Are My Inspiration; World: Bleeaurgh
Angelina Jolie has been carping on about being a mother to anyone that’ll listen lately, like she thinks that she’s the only person on the planet with kids or something.
"They give me so much joy, and I want to make a better world for them," she bleated to Good Morning America recently.
There’s nothing worse than having to listen to someone bang on about
how brilliant their kid is. No, it doesn’t look adorable, actually, it
looks like a screaming flabby piglet with an old man’s face. And we
don’t care that it’s just taken it’s first steps – we’ve taken about a
thousand of them today and where’s our medal? Plus, if a man and a baby
had a fight, the baby would easily lose. Thus we win.
But Angelina Jolie (DVDs) isn’t the sort of person that listens to this
kind of exceptional logic. Any opportunity to talk about her kids, and
she’ll start spouting off until the world stops spinning. Take Zahara,
her Ethiopian daughter, for example. When Angelina took charge of her,
"she
was 6 months old and not 9 pounds. Her skin, you
could squeeze it, it stuck together. Like – it was terrifying. Just to
see the difference what food and the right kind of – just a little bit
of care takes. She’s like – she has gained 6 pounds. … We are calling
her chubby. She’s, you know, she’s just a totally different baby."
And as for Zahara’s older brother Maddox:
"He came to the orphanage. He saw where she was living, and he saw she
needed care. Kids understand sadness and poverty and hunger."
To
be fair, Angelina is banging on like a stupid hippy for a reason. She’s
promoting her new MTV documentary entitled The Diary of Angelina Jolie
& Dr. Jeffrey Sachs in Africa, where she and the doctor travel to
poverty-stricken African villages. The broadcast coincides with the U.N
summit in New York this week.
But still. Angelina, less baby-talk next time, please.
