Sure, "Scent of a Woman" was overrated, and probably the role Pacino least deserved an Oscar for. But Pacino hasn't made a quality film since 1975? Huh? "Carlito's Way" doesn't qualify? "The Insider"? (Everyone raved about Russel Crowe in that one, but it was Pacino's much more layered performance that drove that film.) "Glengarry Glen Ross" was a tour de force (Pacino was the only actor on the planet who Mamet would have used to replace his boy Joe Montegna, who played it on Broadway). "Donnie Brascoe" was certainly a quality film, if not everyone's cup of tea. And even if you think Pacino is a ham, he was a brilliantly comic ham in "Dick Tracy." (When De Niro attempts comedy, it's embarrassing.) This author is right about only one thing -- it's a huge risk for Pacino to come out with a "Lear" at the same time as Anthony Hopkins.

Yadda yadda yadda... Hitchcock can't direct ... Vonnegut can't write ... Bobby Orr wasn't a terribly good hockey player ... Pacino's a shitty actor ...
Family Guy is better than The Simpsons .... On the Internet there are people who pride themselves as contrarions and who purport to hold opinions that almost nobody outside of an insane asylum embrace. George W. Bush has a vigorous intellect ... Paul Newman was a selfish prick who drove like a Chinaman ... Man. you must really crave attention.
