Digg this!

Akon Sorry Dry-Humping Underage Child Trinidad Verizon Sponsor TourThe world of etiquette is a tricky one to navigate sometimes. Take Akon, for example – last month he spent a full minute of a concert in Trinidad violently dry-humping the 15-year-old daughter of a pastor, which some circles see as quite the faux pas.

And thanks to the wonders of YouTube, videos of Akon furiously pumping his groin against a child's crotch were seen around the world within minutes. This Akon humping video has dismayed Verizon Communications, which quickly pulled out of sponsoring Akon's Sweet Escape tour with Gwen Stefani, and now Akon has issued a humble apology over the matter. From now on, Akon says the only daughters of pastors that he'll disturbingly mimic violent sexual intercourse with in front of thousands of screaming fans will be at least 18 years old where available.

Akon has never been as popular as he is now. It's now been made law that all TV shows and radio stations aren't allowed to go more than 15 minutes without playing Akon going "woo-hoo" all over that new Gwen Stefani song, plus his latest album has sold over two million copies in America alone. That's not bad for man previously most famous for making up lies about Eminem.

And how did Akon go about celebrating his new-found fame? Opening a cheeky bottle of champagne? No. Buying himself a nice car? No. Going onstage in Trinidad and dry-humping a teenage pastor's daughter while a bunch of people video the act to put on YouTube? Yes, that one. There's every chance you'll have seen Akon humping underage pastor's daughter Deena Alleyne by now but, hey, here it is again…

Akon's tour sponsor Verizon Communications was as shocked as anybody else when it saw the Akon humping video – it'd rather be known as the company with the bad wireless broadband customer service record than the company that pays for grown men to mimic sex with minors – and so it removed itself from sponsoring the tour, headlined by Gwen Stefani. And now, as Reuters reports, Akon is all apologetic over the incident:

"First, and most important to me, I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I've caused to the young woman who joined me on-stage, her family and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert in Port of Spain on April 12th… It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience. Somehow, that standard was not met."

Although being filmed dry-humping a child will be endlessly embarrassing – not to mention financially damaging – for Akon, at least one upside is that the video has made him more famous than ever before. Maybe Akon will learn his lesson and stick to simulating sex on underage girls instead of wasting his time by singing useless high-pitched songs about how bloody lonely he is all the time.
