Lots of things are going to happen in 2006: England will go out in the World Cup semis, the Gulf Stream system will shut down and we’ll all freeze to death, and some people will get number one records.

But who? It’s time to take a look at a few more 2006 music betting odds - and today we’ll be exploring the chances of Victoria Beckham, the England football team and Peter Andre getting a number one record before January 1st 2007.

Here’s part one of our 2006 music betting odds, with help from SportingOdds.com

Victoria Beckham - It’s a hard life being in a vocal group,
especially if you’re the silent one at the back. Just look at Howard Donald.
Or Antony Costa. Or most of East 17. Or Victoria Beckham. When she was
in the Spice Girls, Victoria was Posh: the surly, pouty, silent one who
got turned down in the mix a lot. Then the Spice Girls split up and
Victoria became David Beckham’s wife - which has easily made her
the most well-known ex Spice Girl.

But as far as being a successful solo artist goes, Victoria Beckham
flat-out sucks. Her first two solo singles got to Number 6, and her
third - Let Your Head Go - managed to somehow clamber to Number 3. But you can’t
hum it from memory, can you? That was almost two years ago - since then, Victoria has been a musical mute. Could Victoria Beckham
get a Number One in 2006 if she wanted to? Would she even want to? She
seems to be busy enough keeping David in line these days. Current 2006
Number One odds - 33/1

England Football Team (Official FA World Cup song) - Here’s a
toughie: is the official World Cup song going to get to Number One next
year? You’d think so, wouldn’t you, what with everyone blabbing about
how we’re going to win the World Cup and all. But we’d say that it
depends on the song. Some official World Cup songs have reached Number One - Back Home in 1970, World In Motion in 1990 and, um, no. Just
those two.

But plenty of other official World Cup songs have died terrible
deaths. Songs like We’re On The Ball by Ant & Dec (Number 3, 2002),
This Time (We’ll Get It Right) (Number 2, 1982) and We Got The Whole
World At Our Feet
(Number 66, 1986). Three
Lions
doesn’t count, by the way - it was originally a European Championship song and then it was re-released as an unofficial single. So there. Current 2006 Number
One odds - Evens

Peter Andre - Our first thoughts were that Peter Andre had no chance of getting a Number One in 2006 - after all, how many times can you reissue Mysterious Girl, for God’s sake? Even Insania - a song he constantly name-checked and sung for two weeks on national television - only managed to get to Number 3.

But to write off Peter Andre’s chances of getting a Number One would be to forget about his husband wife, Jordan. Jordan seems to be focused almost to the point of dementia on becoming a pop singer. She proved - by ballsing up her Eurovision effort - that she can’t do it herself, so maybe she’ll attempt a slushy duet with her wife husband Peter Andre. After all, that terrible Disney song they performed on Children In Need seemed to go down well. Peter Andre is a dark horse, mark our words. Current 2006 Number One odds - 20/1

Tomorrow, just to see the year out, we’ll be looking at the chances of the casts of Eastenders, Coronation Street and Neighbours  getting a number one single. In the
meantime, head over to the Specials section of SportingOdds.com to see
their giant list of 2006 special betting odds.

I heard that Timmy Mallet is releasing a version of Itsy Bitsy as an England World Cup chant. Its bound to be popular considering it was a number 1 hit and its very catchy. Who does not know the tune to Itsy Bitsy??

i have heard the song that McFLY would like to sing and may i say i thought it was excelent. it has been stuck in my head since i heard it on chris evans’ radio show. i very much hope they are chosen- it seems they have put in a lot of time and effort to produce such a fantastic song.
