Paula Abdul knows the big issues. She’s not going to waste her time joining the anti poverty lobby or questioning the validity of the Iraq war. Oh no. She’s angry because she hurt her thumb while getting her nails done.
Taking time out from grinning inanely and giving hollow, baseless encouragement to every single person or object she encounters, Paula Abdul has lobbied for better hygiene at nail salons, after getting some bacteria in her thumb while having a manicure.
The American Idol judge was having her nails done in Los Angeles last year, when the nail salon failed to clean their instruments properly, apparently
leading to a year of debilitating thumb-sickness.
"Being a professional dancer, I’m no stranger to pain. My tolerance is
this high, we learn to suck it up and not complain," Abdul said. "But
this kind of pain was so excruciating, that even my hair touching my
thumb and the bedsheet touching my thumb caused me to scream."
Poor Paula Abdul (CDs). The nail salon thumb incident left her taking
prescription medicine for a year, and now she’s lobbying Californian
lawmakers to push forward with a bill for harsher hygiene at nail
salons. Good for her for choosing the most important issues to get
behind.
Recently, the cartoon cat-duetting former cheerleader has been more
well known for apparently seducing an American Idol contestant, Corey
Clark, and helping him choose songs that would specifically make Randy
Jackson bounce up and down in his chair and babble the word "dog" like
a mental.
Clark’s also made the news today, by having a food fight with his
manager. Corey Clark was cited for misdemeanour battery after throwing
plates at Laura Kathleen Troy after she criticised his performance of
the night before. It’s not the first time his behaviour has got him in
trouble – he was thrown off American Idol after failing to disclose a
prior incident where he assaulted his younger sister.
So Corey Clark and Paula Abdul are back in the headlines again. Surely the
reconciliation and chart-topping duet are only a matter of time away.

Ok, this is years late, but people actually DIE from what happened to Paula. I’m not Paula defender, but the writer clearly has it out for her. Either that or he doesn’t have anything better to write about or didn’t research what nasty places nail salons can be. I unfortunately stumbled upon this site after following a Yahoo Buzz link. I feel yucky now after lingering here 2 storeis too long and need to go take a Silkwood shower.
