The Paula Abdul (CDs) American Idol scandal rumbles on, following the broadcast of Fallen Idol, the supposedly shocking sex and drugs documentary about the show.
The biggest claim the TV show made is that Paula Abdul had a sordid affair two years ago with a young contestant. Corey Clark – branded a "liar" and an "opportunist" by Abdul – has published a book on the relationship. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also an album, which will contain a track called Paula-tics. It’s a pun on the word ‘Politics’, not a song about Abdul’s facial spasms.
However, the first single from the album is called Wiggle & Shake. So maybe it is an entire concept album about involuntary muscle twitches.
Fallen Idol revealed that Paula had given Corey her telephone
number, and then offered advice on what clothes he should wear and the
songs he should sing on the show. One of these songs was Foolish Heart by Journey (CDs).
The documentary then showed a clip from American Idol, where judge Randy Jackson was excitedly boasting about how he’d worked on the original version of the song. And screaming "Dog!" a lot, like an obsessive compulsive kid in a pet shop.
As for Clark’s account, well, we may never know the full picture. Corey Clark, you see is a stunningly inarticulate young man. Here are his revelations:
On how much help Abdul gave him: "not as far as making it through, but, you know, as far as helping me, and, uh,
you know, like, wardrobe, so I looked the part, you know, and, uh, song choices,
you know what I’m saying."
On the physical side of he relationship: “It was dope, I was like, wow."
Ultimately, the advice and alleged sex came to nothing. Corey was
asked to leave the show after producers found he’d previously been
arrested for assaulting his little sister.
Now, following the broadcast, some people are asking if Paula should continue as a judge. After all, if they can sack contestants for bad behaviour, shouldn’t they get rid of judges for the same reasons?
There’s an inquiry being held by the producers of American Idol, to try and get to the bottom of the scandal. The big question should be "Is Paula Abdul replaceable?",
because what does she actually do? She spends most of the show acting
all spaced out and yelling mental, empty encouragement to everyone,
regardless of their ability.
Replaceable? There’s a frightening red-eyed woman who hangs around by the Tesco Express near where we live who does exactly the same thing.
