Britney Spears knows that fame isn't all it's cracked up to be; after all, that's basically the gist of that Lucky song she did. However, if Britney Spears wrote a song now, it'd be probably be called Leave Me Alone You Horrible Wankers.
After months and months of speculation about the state of her marriage and her mothering ability, Britney Spears has finally decided to give a special weepy interview with Matt Lauer about what a good mum she is, how crap the paparazzi are and – frighteningly – how awesome her husband Kevin Federline is.
It's getting a bit of a cliche to call Britney Spears a troubled popstar. And it's completely untrue, too – Britney Spears hasn't been a popstar of a couple of years. But calling Britney a troubled Will & Grace guest-star? Yes, that's allowed. Lately, Britney's private life has completely overshadowed whatever she's chosen to do professionally. The video of her driving with her son balanced dangerously on her lap, Sean Preston being taken to hospital with a fractured skull, the deranged poems on her website that everyone thought were about Kevin Federline and the hiring of a male nanny all added up to give the impression that Britney's life was slowly unravelling.
And now Britney has hit back. In an interview to be broadcast on Thursday with Matt Lauer, Britney Spears has decided to put the record straight on all kinds of things, not least how she wishes that everyone would just leave her alone, especially those bastards in the media who made her famous in the first place:
“They’ve crossed the line a little bit… they like to have the person they pick on, I feel like I’m a target.”
And Britney also uses the interview to expand upon whatever crossed her mind and made her drive around with Sean Preston on her lap in a slightly more valid reason than her previous rubbish attempts at an apology:
“I can’t go anywhere without someone judging me…I did it with my dad. I’d sit on his lap and I drive. We’re country… I know I’m a good mom.”
And finally, Britney Spears hit back at claims that she is splitting up with her husband Kevin Federline and has banished him to the basement. Instead, she says that living with Kevin is "awesome" and says of him:
“He helps me. He has to. I’m (an) emotional wreck right now.”
So, wow, we'd certainly be surprised if Britney Spears and Kevin Federline somehow managed to break up before the end of the year…
