You think you know Keanu Reeves from his films, like the lovable goof in the Bill & Ted films, the ultra-serious saviour of humanity in the Matrix films or the… wait, has Keanu Reeves actually made any other films?
Anyway, our point is that Keanu Reeves isn't just the all-action movie star that everyone expects him to be; he's also just about the most sensitive bunny in the whole damn world, as proved when an interview – ostensibly for some film or other that he's going to star in – turned into a full-on blubfest where Keanu ended up pouring his heart out about how lonely he gets sometimes.
We live in highly cynical times, where moviestars and audiences are both ultra-weary of each other. Look at Tom Cruise, for example; just because he couldn't quite stage-manage the birth of his first child to coincide exactly with the release of his latest movie, Mission: Impossible III was deemed a failure. As soon as an actor is quoted in a magazine even semi-admitting that they aren't entirely perfect, like Lindsay Lohan did in January, there's usually an instant statement of denial by the very same actor, worried that their interview might alienate their movie audience and make them less money.
Thank the blinking heavens for Keanu Reeves, then. Keanu recently gave an interview with Parade magazine to promote his soppy looking new movie The Lake House, which he co-stars with Sandra Bullock, but talk of the movie took a back seat as Keanu decided to look back on tragic events, like the deaths of his stillborn baby and it's mother in a car crash with alarming honesty:
"When the people you love are gone, you're alone. I miss being a part of their lives and them being a part of mine. I wonder what the present would be like if they were here – what we might have done together. I miss all the great things that will never be. It's not fair."
Usually at this point, an actor's PR would have rushed over to the star, snatched the tape from the recorder and ended the interview, fobbing off the interviewer with all kinds of lame excuses, but Keanu Reeves doesn't seem to be that kind of guy. In fact, having dwelled on the past, Keanu then decided to spill his private hopes about the future. In an interview. With a magazine. That thousands of people will read:
"I'm trying not to be alone so much. It's a struggle. I want to get married. I want to have kids. That's at the top of the mountain. I've got to climb the mountain first. I've had a vagabond life and living that way seemed to make sense. I couldn't settle down, then I turned 40. That birthday is hard, perhaps because you know you're grown-up."
We've settled on two different reasons for Keanu's public outpouring. Either a) Keanu Reeves is a sensitive, trusting soul just happy to have an ear to whisper his private thoughts into or b) The Lake House is really shit.

Probably after having therapy earlier that year made it easier for him to talk about personal issues.
If that’s what concerns you at the moment it’s likely you talk about it. Good for him!
PS The Lake House is a beautifully romantic movie. Just don’t watch it if you only liked Keanu in the Matrix or Speed…

Dear Keanu,
I loved that movie “Lake House”. My favorite part is when you were dancing with Sandra Bullock and that song was playing and the way you were looking at each other. that was hot!!!!!! Always remember those special moments you shared with this person and treasure them. You have to go through shock, denial and realization. Then you can move on with your life. You need to meet a regular woman ( not anyone from Hollywood – sin city). I know you use to like to play music. Anytime you want to jam and come to a nice place in Sorrento, Florida ( Sorrento or also known as Mount Plymouth a historic area, also Al Capone was known to visit this area. My husband plays bass, my son 15 plays bass,my other son plays guitar. My husband use to play in a group called Riot. If you ever need a quiet getaway with down to earth people. Come visit us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We would love to have you as our guest. You deserve someone special. I’m Italian. Come enjoy some good cooking!!!!!!!

I think your beautiful and I’ve been through some really rough times as my heart is huge and my passion is intense, I completely understand what lonely is. I am 44 with one grown son going to college. No one has ever understood my need for a kindred sole. I bought the move Lake House and fell in love with the whole story and both of you. It was beautiful. I also hope to find one day the one who wants to be with me the same way. Good Guys always finish last right? I also live in Sorrento, it’s very nice but country like and tranquil, nothing like what your probably used too. 4 wheeling, horse back riding, hunting, fishing, mud races etc. I wish nothing but pure happiness for you. What the fuck us up with Sorrento, FL?
How do all these teenagers feel, knowing that their
drug-addled moms are not so secretly in love
with a a gay mannequin and compelled to confess
their feelings about two year old articles
with deranged reality-averse unselfconscious posts?
Robyn L. Klamer says
Euclid, who cares what you think.
