Sylvester Stallone is famous for two things: Rocky and Rambo. Three things if you include his incredible farting dog.
Since Stallone is ready to revisit one of his past glories by making Rocky Balboa – a brand new Rocky film – he seems ready to go all out and revisit the other role that made him a star. Stallone has announced that he is to play John Rambo in a forthcoming movie, the slightly unoriginal-sounding Rambo IV.
Sylvester Stallone (DVDs), it’s widely known, hasn’t been able to make a decent film to save his life lately. To give you some idea of the problems
he’s having, the last vaguely decent movie he was in was Antz, where he
played a big cartoon ant. Since then, Stallone has bumbled his way
through a series of half-baked remake movies and reality TV shows. Still, at least the Sylvester Stallone high-protein pudding range helped him get
by since the Rocky/Rambo glory years.
And now to add to his Rocky comeback, Sylvester Stallone has
announced Rambo IV, to be produced by Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla
Films. So far, Rambo IV has no script, but it wouldn’t be too big a
leap to suggest that Rambo IV will be exactly the same as Rocky Balboa.
Both films are aiming to be as gritty and raw as the first instalments
of their respective series, and both films are about lonely old men
returning for one… last… job. But Rambo IV will probably have more
guns. And longer hair.
Rambo IV will have a budget of $50 million, and will go into production straight after work has been completed on Rocky Balboa.
